The Thatched Tavern is one of the oldest, and most picturesque, buildings in Honeybourne, a village on the edge of the Cotswolds near Broadway, Badsey, Bidford-on-Avon, Mickleton, Willersey, Bretforton and close to the cultural town of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Known locally as ‘The Thatch’ the Grade II listed building is thought to date back to the 13th Century and may even have medieval roots. The building has a wooden structure – timber was plentiful in medieval times – formed from complete tree trunks fashioned into an ‘A’ shaped frame to support the timbers of the roof and the thatch above. This ‘cruck’ construction can be clearly seen on the north end of The Thatch today. Originally three individual cottages, The Thatch became a tavern towards the end of the 16th or early 17th Century. It was an important meeting place then and continues to play a key role in the local community today, which was recognised in 2021 when it was designated as a Community Asset to the village.

Now a quintessential country pub, the recently refurbished Thatched Tavern guarantees a warm welcome, with its original open fireplaces, flagstone floors and exposed beams; or, if you want to dine al fresco, our attractive beer garden is ideal for catching up with friends over a drink, especially after a long day walking, cycling, or exploring this historic area.
